Finally getting fed up, I researched and studied all the stools I could find (modern ones, that is), finally coming upon this Kartell stool which, to me, is absolute perfection for a kitchen stool. First, it is plastic, which means no upholstery to stain and very easy to wipe down and clean. Second, it is height adjustable. Third, it swivels. Fourth, the design is beautiful. Fifth, it is elegant and not clunky. Sixth, it is very comfortable. I only wish it still came in orange. Now you can only get it in black or white.
I've been sitting on these Kartell Spoon stools for a long, long time. I've still never found a better stool. Here's what I like: - Adjustable for both counter and bar height. Very clever and near invisible adjustment mechanism. - Swivels - Integral foot rest - low-ish back makes the stool less bulky looking in your kitchen. Is the plastic slippery? Well, I guess so but until that other person's comment, I didn't know it was a problem. Let me be more clear. Slippery isn't an issue. I've had no problems with the gas cylinders in my stools. I worry a bit that they may need replacement eventually. I full attest: They're comfortable for long sits. - geo
